The other weekend, Anita and I drove down to Gosford and it was such a beautiful day I wanted to blog/vlog about it!
We decided to head down to Gosford a couple of weeks ago as a reward for Anita finishing her “March Charge“. I’m so glad we picked a sunny day because the drive down there was amazing! The sky was blue, the roads weren’t too congested and we sung like we were on Australian Idol the whole way down. It’s amazing how fast a ride is when you’re spending it being super silly. We got there pretty early so decided to do a bit of shopping. We ended up browsing Typo (where I bought my mum a travel bottle!), Tempt, Seaweed and Sand and KMART. We might have had those stores back in Sydney, but there was something about Gosford that made the shopping experience so much more relaxing. No-one’s in a rush to get anywhere, everyone’s calm and people are dressed for the outdoors! It was a really nice getaway for a day.
After getting a customisable weights set for myself at KMART we headed back to the car to drive ourselves to The Star Buffet. The Star Buffet has multiple chains, but Anita really wanted to show me this one a while back because it’s one of the better ones – with lots of options and was supposedly very spacious! We did not hold back…as one of the first ones that got in we were able to get the fresh food really fast!
Anita and I had a good laugh because we knew that our first choices were going to be so different; I went straight for the Asian food and she went for the Italian. I got too busy stuffing my face to take pictures of the other servings we had but too quickly sum up what they also have:-
- Chinese BBQ Duck/Pork/Chicken
- Wonton Soup
- Steamed Dumplings
- Fried Rice/Mongolian Beef/Veggies/Chicken
- All sorts of desserts!
The list goes on! I did manage to get an awkward shot of the soft serve that I had.
You can never go wrong with soft serve and sprinkles. We had to sit for at least 10 minutes after eating to let the food digest, otherwise we would have waddled out of the buffet like penguins. After the buffet, we headed out for a small drive to a nice coastal area where people can fish, sit by the water or eat at a nearby cafe. It was so amazing how relaxed people were. I’m from a place where everyone’s in a rush or people don’t take the time to say thank you. It was refreshing to be surrounded by a sense of calm, even if it was only for a few hours. After enjoying some down time, talking about our lives and being thoroughly amused by a girl who kept sitting near Anita’s car…we headed back home.
I’m so glad I vlogged and took pictures throughout the day because it was such an enjoyable experience. It’s so fun to go on quick small trips with Anita! I definitely have plans to go down again sometime. Below is a short vlog I edited and published. I’m very sorry for how shakey the camera got, I’m still pretty new to the experience. I’m in the process of getting a new phone and/or a tripod. Below are some links if you want to take a closer look (I’ve also hyperlinked them above) at the places and things I was referring to.
